Open Cyprus in Europe

Bridges towards Europe through social media conversations

Unconferencing the Cyprus European Presidency

Aspirations to New Connections and New content

The essential challenge is to transform the isolation and self-interest within our communities into connectedness and caring for the whole.

- Peter Block

Blog CyEU2012 is the first open space conversation organised around the opportunity to co-create some dimension of the community, or the world that we all really want to be a part of as the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union unfolds.

The idea to come together comes ahead to a call from Europe to create a space for reflection about the Cyprus Presidency in Europe with respect to Citizen Journalism and Mediascape.

It is not an invitation to complain or even “solve problems”, yet without overlooking existing challenges, it is the desire to focus voluntarily our attention on existing strengths and assets to express views and opinions on how citizens views can shape and help to build a intelligible voice that can be shared with our extended compatriots.

We are planning an Unconference in June in Cooperation with local entities in Nicosia ahead of the meeting that will be celebrated in Brussels under the sponsorship of the Permanent Eu representation in Cyprus and in collaboration with the EuroBlogging Portal.

More information to come soon as the agenda and venue are being finalised.  If you are a blogger and should you be interested to contact us with your suggestions feel free to do so through the contact form.  We look forward to your participation.

Note: This event is now closed for registrations.

On 26 July the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union organised the Euroblogger exchange, an event that brought bloggers closer to the Eu Presidency for debate and theme building.  Follow up on the event here
