Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness for SMEs as an engine for growth

The Informal Competitiveness Council meet in Cyprus.  Event: 19th July in Nicosia, Philoxenia Conference Centre

Presided by Mr. Neoklis Sylikiotis, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Cyprus, the meeting will touch upon the issues also related to the management of the European Research Area, and will bring together research ministers of the EU Member States, EFTA countries and countries associated with the Framework Programme, EC representatives headed by the Research and Innovation commissioner and the delegates of the EU Council’s SG – we list the agenda below.

  • Entrepreneurship for SMEs: an engine for growth

Keynote speakers: 

– Antonio Tajani, Vice President of the European Commission, Responsible for Industry and Entrepreneurship
– Dr. Constantinos Markides, Robert P. Bauman Professor of Strategic Leadership, London Business School

Plenary Debate: Entrepreneurial culture to meet the current challenges

  •  The case for entrepreneurship education as a solution to youth unemployment
  • Activating untapped pools of talent for entrepreneurship – the example of boosting women entrepreneurs
  • Innovation as a driving force of entrepreneurship
  • Keep existing entrepreneurs going by timely restructuring enterprises and giving honest failed entrepreneurs a second chance

Break‐out sessions:

  • The case for entrepreneurship education as a solution to youth unemployment
  • Activating untapped pools of talent for entrepreneurship – the example of boosting women entrepreneurs
  • Innovation as a driving force of entrepreneurship
  • Keep existing entrepreneurs going by timely restructuring enterprises and giving honest failed entrepreneurs a second chance
